The last episode of Doctors has just aired yesterday and it was one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride.

Synopsis of the drama: Yoo Hye-jung (Park Shin Hye) was a difficult girl in high school with a gangster personality. Due to her many childhood scars, Hye-jung keeps her heart closed towards other people. However, she began to change after meeting her mentor Hong Ji-hong (Kim Rae Won), who plays a key role in transforming her life from a “hopeless” delinquent to a compassionate doctor. Due to unforeseen circumstances, they part ways but fate brought them together after 13 years when Yoo Hye-jung becomes a doctor.

The drama started off with mixed reactions – some liked it, some didn’t like it, some couldn’t wait for the next episode but yet some stopped watching.

Let’s try to do this without spoiling too much.

Honestly, I really enjoyed the whole drama. I really liked the characters as well as the plot. It wasn’t boring and each episode managed to develop the stories of each character really well. They managed to build up the characters relationship and I find myself really starting to like most of the characters, especially the silly Dr Jung Yoon Do (played by Yoon Gyun Sang) and the loveable Soon Hee (played by Moon Ji In).

The whole drama was an emotional rollercoaster. I find myself full of hatred and vengeance at the start and I made a vow to myself that I would not like a certain character ever. But this drama has taught us that people change, especially over time. And each person has a story behind them, we just have to understand their context and perspective.

The drama also managed to touch the important values like family ties, relationship developments, and strengths of friendships. And they managed to deliver. I could really relate – no matter how much you hate a person, family is still family. And the close relationship between the doctors and the nurses was really adorable. I really enjoyed moments between them. You know how some dramas manage to make you cringe watching it because you’re imagining how awkward it must be for them acting it out? Well, this drama managed to show how natural and close everyone were on set. (They are probably just better actors, but you get my point.)

I feel that the drama managed to portray the right balance of everything and I find myself laughing and crying throughout all 20 episodes.

To be honest, I really wasn’t feeling the relationship between Hye Jung and Ji Hong, especially in the earlier episodes. The age difference, as well as the circumstances of their relationship in the beginning really disturbed me and I was well considering of ditching the drama. However, the Kim Rae Won fan in me decided to continue and I don’t regret it one bit. Their relationship really developed and I really like how they only have eyes for each other. There were no annoying plot twists with their relationship. They acted like their age – mature and straightforward.

One thing I didn’t like about the drama, besides the annoying product placement of a certain brand *coughs* subway *coughs*, is the weak cases they had. I kept telling myself this is no Grey’s Anatomy but I expected more exciting cases. Don’t get me wrong, some cases really hit me in the heart (and poked me in the eyes), but others are just – meh. But well that’s just me. And that’s really just an insignificant letdown of this whole drama.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the drama. I enjoyed the acting of Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won; they were really adorable together. I enjoyed the friendship between the doctors and the nurses. I enjoyed the friendship between Hye Jung and Soon Hee. I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Seo Woo and Young Kook. There are many more memorable moments that I really enjoyed but I shall not spoil it for you guys.

So for those people who are still deciding if you should watch it or not? WATCH IT! You will not regret it. Give yourself 7 episodes. If you really can’t bear to watch it, then well, you may ditch it. But seriously I feel that you need to watch the full 20 episodes to fully appreciate the drama in its entity. The last few episodes were really good. Watch it and you’ll know what I mean~
