Singapore, 2026 – Nine years is a long time to wait for a band to finally make its way back to Singapore. But if The Rose’s long-awaited return with Rosetopia proved anything, it was that some things are worth waiting for. Delivering a night filled with incredible live musicianship, infectious energy, heartfelt moments and plenty of laughter, the band reminded everyone exactly why their music has continued to resonate with fans around the world.
From the moment they took to the stage, it was clear that The Rose were in their element. While their recorded music already speaks volumes about their artistry, seeing them perform live was an entirely different experience. Their musical talents were on full display as they effortlessly switched between delivering powerful vocals and showcasing their individual instrumental skills. There was something particularly captivating about watching the members lose themselves in the music, each contributing their own artistry to create a sound that felt both polished and wonderfully organic.

What made the experience even more special was how naturally they commanded the stage. Their performances were not simply about hitting the right notes or delivering technically impressive instrumentals. There was an undeniable connection between the members, their music and the audience, making every performance feel personal. Whether it was the emotional delivery of their songs or the energy they brought to the more upbeat numbers, The Rose made it difficult to look away.
And then there was their sense of humour.
For a band that had clearly come prepared to deliver an unforgettable musical experience, they were equally determined to keep the audience entertained between songs. Their candid conversations and playful exchanges gave fans plenty of reasons to laugh, making the concert feel like spending an evening with old friends.

Naturally, a little technical difficulty was thrown into the mix. When the bass was not coming through, the members took the opportunity to turn the situation into a joke. One of them cheekily suggested that the Singapore fans had deliberately sabotaged the equipment so that the band would have to sing all night.
Even the band’s backstage preparations became a source of entertainment. Jeff jokingly asked for another two minutes, only for Sammy to respond, “Singapore waited nine years for us, what is two minutes?” It was a small exchange, but one that perfectly captured the playful relationship they had with the audience.

The members also took a moment to reflect on how far they had come as a band. Sammy shared how, in their earlier days, the members had to handle everything themselves, whereas they now had an entire crew and team supporting them. Leo added that he used to be the one panicking and running around, but these days, he could afford to remain calm. It was a lighthearted reflection, but also a reminder of the journey that had brought them to where they are today.
Their interactions with the Singapore audience were another highlight. At one point, Sammy questioned why everyone was still seated, even asking whether there was some sort of cultural reason behind it. The members’ curiosity and willingness to engage with the crowd made the evening feel all the more intimate. They were not simply performing for the audience; they genuinely wanted to interact with them.

There was also a particularly amusing explanation for why so many of their songs revolve around the universe and celestial themes, including Nebula. When Leo was asked why they kept writing songs about the universe, his answer was simply straightforward: “Because it’s cool.”
During Shift, Leo even incorporated a little local flavour into the performance with an enthusiastic “I love you lah!”, drawing an especially warm response from the Singapore crowd. It was a small but memorable gesture that showed just how much the band was enjoying their time on stage.
The members also shared their unofficial secrets for anyone attending a The Rose concert for the first time. According to them, fans should expect three things: technical difficulties, forgotten lyrics and plenty of cussing. Sammy joked that they sometimes forget their lyrics because they get lost looking into the audience’s eyes while singing. Jeff, however, was quick to point out that Sammy had been cussing more than usual that night.

But beneath all the jokes and laughter was a more meaningful sentiment that ran throughout the evening: gratitude.
Nine years is a significant amount of time, and for fans who had waited patiently for The Rose to return to Singapore, finally seeing them perform live was undoubtedly a long-overdue moment of fulfilment. The anticipation, the years of listening to their music and the hope of one day experiencing their performances in person had finally led to this night.
Sammy captured this sentiment beautifully when he thanked the audience, reminding everyone that music was what brought them all together. He expressed his appreciation for the fans who had waited for the band and shared how meaningful it was to finally see everyone’s faces.

And perhaps that was what made Rosetopia so special. Beyond the impressive vocals, exceptional instrumental performances and entertaining banter, it was a celebration of the connection between a band and the people who had supported them throughout their journey.
The Rose were every bit as good live as one could hope for, if not better. Their artistic abilities shone through in every performance, while their humour and genuine interactions made the night feel refreshingly personal. They managed to deliver a concert that was musically satisfying without ever losing the warmth and spontaneity that make live shows so memorable.

For Singapore fans, Rosetopia was nine years in the making. And judging by the performances, laughter and heartfelt appreciation shared throughout the night, it was well worth every moment of the wait.
Some concerts leave you impressed. Others leave you wishing the night would never end. Rosetopia managed to do both.
