[Exclusive Interview] LNGSHOT Shares Their Love for Basketball, Teamwork and Their Journey as Rising Artists at NBA Rising Stars Invitational

Singapore, 2026 – The last Sunday of June belonged to LNGSHOT, who took the stage as headliners for the second annual 2026 NBA Rising Stars Invitational in Singapore.

LNGSHOT is Jay Park’s very first boy group under MORE VISION. Making their debut on 13 January 2026, Moonwalkin’ made waves with a combination of smooth R&B beats and dance moves that resemble the title track. Only five months into their debut, the members OHYUL, RYUL, WOOJIN and LOUIS are eager to showcase more sides of themselves throughout the rest of the year.

Did you also know that their group name came from the basketball term “long shot”? Quoting Louis’ explanation, “Even if we don’t succeed at first, we try everything we can. Doing the risky things that others can’t.” This alone makes them the ultimate K-pop representative for this NBA event!

We had an exclusive opportunity to interview the quartet, where the boy highlighted the parallels between basketball and their own artistic journey sharing their thoughts on teamwork, community and connecting with fans worldwide.

Known for their strong group chemistry and energetic presence, the four members reflected on what basketball represents to them personally. RYUL described the sport as a game that requires both physical ability and mental strategy, emphasising the importance of collaboration and working towards a shared goal.

“Basketball is a strategic sport, not only physically but also mentally,” RYUL shared. “We have to strategise to achieve one unified goal, and that is meaningful to me.”

The members also revealed their playful side when asked which positions they would take if LNGSHOT were a basketball team. WOOJIN jokingly chose the role of trainer, while LOUIS assigned positions to his members — naming RYUL as the small forward for his shooting skills and OHYUL as the shooting guard. When LOUIS claimed the role of point guard, RYUL quickly teased that he would be the team’s “bench” player, creating a lighthearted moment that showcased the group’s natural chemistry.

Beyond the fun exchanges, LNGSHOT shared how basketball has influenced their perspective as artists. WOOJIN highlighted the sport’s unique ability to unite communities, drawing a connection between the support shown for basketball teams and the passion fans have for artists.

“Basketball is a sport that brings the whole community together,” WOOJIN explained. “The lesson is the shared meaning and the human-to-human value behind that connection.”

Despite describing themselves as introverts, the members’ witty responses and genuine interactions brought laughter throughout the interview, offering fans a glimpse into their personalities beyond the stage.

As LNGSHOT continues to expand their presence globally, the group expressed their gratitude to fans who continue to support their journey. RYUL shared, “Thank you for loving us. We will keep working hard to bring the best image of LNGSHOT to you.”

With their shared passion for teamwork and growth, LNGSHOT continues to aim higher, carrying the same determination and unity that define both basketball and their journey as rising artists. We look forward to their future releases that will bring them to new heights.
