Concert Review: Highlight Live 2024 in Singapore – Lights Goes On Again

Highlight’s long-awaited return to Singapore for the “Lights Goes On Again” concert on September 8, 2024, was a spectacular display of talent, nostalgia, and heartfelt fan interactions. Held at the Singapore EXPO Hall 7, the concert opened with the high-energy track “Switch On,” instantly setting the mood for an unforgettable night. Doojoon, Yoseob, Gikwang, and Dongwoon commanded the stage with seamless choreography, powerful vocals, and unwavering charisma that captivated the audience from start to finish.

The setlist was a nostalgic trip down memory lane, featuring classics like “Bad Girl,” “Shock,” “Special,” and the emotional “Fiction.” Fans, known as B2UTYs and LIGHTs, were transported back to the group’s early days when they performed under the name BEAST. This nostalgic segment was particularly heartwarming, with fans erupting in cheers as the group reintroduced themselves as BEAST, creating a magical, sentimental atmosphere. The night was filled with iconic tracks that spanned over a decade of their career, proving that Highlight’s music is truly timeless.

Highlight’s interaction with the audience was a key highlight of the night. Between performances, the members shared personal anecdotes about their time in Singapore, revealing charming and relatable sides of themselves. Yoseop shared his new interest in photography, Gikwang talked about hitting the gym, and Dongwoon delighted fans with his love for Singaporean food, specifically bak kut teh. These moments of connection added a personal touch to the concert, making the fans feel seen and appreciated.

What made the concert truly special was the group’s genuine affection and gratitude towards their fans. Despite being veterans in the industry, Highlight’s humility shone brightly as they repeatedly thanked the audience for their unwavering support. The concert wrapped up with each member expressing their hopes to return soon, highlighting their deep connection to Singaporean fans. The closing message displayed on the screen, “As long as you’re here, we’ll sing eternally,” perfectly encapsulated the emotional bond between Highlight and their fans.

The “Lights Goes On Again” concert was not just a performance but a celebration of Highlight’s journey, their growth as artists, and their enduring relationship with fans. It was a night filled with laughter, nostalgia, and powerful performances that reaffirmed Highlight’s place in the hearts of their fans. As they promised to return sooner, fans left the venue with memories of a beautiful and emotional night that truly showcased Highlight’s unwavering charm and artistry.
